The government shall commit itself that for every child born in Malta and Gozo, a tree shall be planted. Ideally this would be done the year after the official statistics are published of all the children born. This means that if in a particular year 5,000 new births are registered, the year after the government shall plant those 5,000 trees. This would create a long-term project of afforestation to make Malta greener for generations to come. Parents should be notified of such a gift.
