In the US a press secretary acts as spokesperson to the executive branch of govt, updating the press on pressing issues on a daily basis while receiving questions on any matter. I believe this should be adopted in Malta. Such press conferences would be available recorded or live to the public and this would remove the unnecessary corollary that excerpts of quick comments obtained after chasing around the PM are manipulated by the media. This increases accountability and is good PR for the govt.
Not against the idea in principle, but on a daily basis seems a bit too much... we're in Malta, not the US. Otherwise we risk having another press conference announcing a 2c reduction in the price of fuel if they're short of real issues to discuss. Having that once was already once too much.
